Tips for real estate agents
10/Nov/2014
PETALING JAYA: Real estate agents face day-to-day issues, just like in any other business.
But they are now clearer on what they have to do in their profession, thanks to a seminar organised by Propwall, a property portal owned by The Star.
Thursday’s "Propwall We Care Real Estate Agent Seminar” generalised their issues into four categories – digital, RPGT & GST, legal disputes and location.
The four who spoke at the seminar were experts in their respective fields – Digital@The Star Media Group general manager Timothy Hor, Crowe Horwath KL Tax executive director Fennie Lim, MahWengKwai & Associates managing partner Raymond Mah and Hartamas Real Estate (Malaysia) head of marketing and sales Kevin Lim.
Each spoke in detail on what to expect and how to best deal with their clients under the categories.
"The fundamental point is that one’s end goal is to market and sell properties effectively, using an integrated approach of digital and physical media,” said Hor.
Lim said property prices would see an increase after the changes in RPGT and the implementation of the GST next year.
"Real estate agents should always think positive when trying to close a deal,” she added.
Mah’s advice was: "Know the explicit relationship between realtor and client, and be very sure of one’s instructions from the client before proceeding with a deal.”
The speakers also related their personal experiences.
